All the World’s a Stage
To quote Shakespeare from As you Like It. Here we are front row centre of the worlds stage set on the Toronto Islands. Magically the theatre set afire with the setting sun and that glow slowly descended into a cool May evening. As a photographer I played my part in catching the lights exit and the curtain closed to bring about a chilling darkness.
‘All the world’s a stage,
And all the men and women merely players:
They have their exits and their entrances;
And one man in his time plays many parts’
“Phantom faces at the window.
Phantom shadows on the floor.
Empty chairs at empty tables
Where my friends will meet no more…”
…Marius, Les Miserables.
This is the background music I hear whenever I see this photo; the word “chilling” is apt…I feel a chilling sense of loss and loneliness. A beautiful, but sad picture…very emotional. I’m sure you know who it makes me think of…:-)
Beautiful!
This is a great shot. I love the juxtaposition of the calm and the drama.
